Night 2

Introducing the first safari in Mexico.

Yucatan Jungle Safari by Akampa x Viatura Unseen Escapes is not just a journey; it is an immersion into the beating heart of Mayan nature and culture. Inspired by the poetry and evocative narrative of Eduardo Galeano in his work "Memory of Fire", we want the traveler to experience a deep connection with history, nature and himself.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

The adventure begins in Merida, Yucatan. Transportation will pick us up at the agreed departure point, and we will move to our base camp: Viatura Hacienda Xtojil: the 1st Africa-style camp in Mexico. We will have a welcome dinner and a briefing on what awaits us for the next few days.

  • Day 2

  • Day 3

On the third day, we will get up early to check the camera traps in the nature reserve to see if any jaguar (or any other animal) was captured during the night. We will go kayaking in the morning and do a hike where we will see all kinds of birds, and with luck, deer or felines. We will then head to Punta Laguna, where we will have the opportunity to see spider monkeys and howler monkeys. We finish the day back at the base camp, Viatura Hacienda Xtojil.

  • Day 4

On the last day we wake up a little later to enjoy Viatura Hacienda Xtojil. After breakfast, we will visit a hidden cenote near the camp. Finally we will arrive in Merida to close our expedition.
